The resort of Sitges in Spain, formerly a fishing village, is one of the luxurious seaside resorts in the Costa Dorada province. Its about 4 km long coastline is washed by the Mediterranean Sea and dotted with long sandy beaches. There are three marinas here. The resort became popular in the 60s of the last century.

The three main museums are the most interesting to visit: the Marisel Palace Museum, the Can Llopis Museum of Romance, the Cau Ferrat Museum of Sculpture and Painting. Museu Marical and Museu Cau Ferrat are next to each other behind the church of Sitges, while Museu Romantic is in the city centre.

  • Cau Ferrat was once the home studio of Santiago Rusiñol, a Catalan Modernist painter. All kinds of art are represented here, from ceramics to paintings by Picasso and other artists.
  • The Museu Romantic is housed in a majestic eighteenth-century building in the heart of Sitges. The museum also houses Lola Anglada’s famous collection of dolls.
  • Museum-Palace “Marisel” is an architectural complex in the Art Nouveau style, consists of two buildings: a palace and a museum, connected by a gallery. The Golden Room, Blue Room, Chapel Room, Ship Room are the main areas that make up the palace.

There are at least three marinas in Sitges where you can enjoy a variety of water sports. In the surroundings, such as Garraf, water skiing, windsurfing and kitesurfing are offered.

There are several restaurants on the beaches where you can sample local Catalan cuisine. From June to September, additional activities are held on the central beaches, such as water aerobics lessons and workshops for children.

  • Playa de San Sebast San Sebastia is 205 meters long and 20 meters wide, where families with children prefer to relax.
  • Playa de les Anquines, 160 m long and 50 m wide, is a quiet place on the coast, where it is also good to relax with children.
  • Playa de la Fragata is central on the coast, equipped for volleyball and water bike rental.

Deserted fabulous beaches are hidden among the rocks, for longer trips along the coast.

Sitges has better weather than Barcelona, as it is protected by green mountains. A fun destination for adults and children alike, Sitges not only provides a wonderful beach holiday, but also offers its visitors a rich life.
